FIFA 22 consistently gets new updates that change the gameplay mechanics and implement general fixes. Like any other modern multiplayer game, FIFA 22 gameplay is constantly evolving, and EA regularly applies buffs or nerfs to various aspects. The last few patches have received criticism from the fan base as players proclaim that the game was better before these updates. Now, EA Sports has shared details of a new FIFA 22 update that addresses some issues across all the different game modes.

Patch 6.1 of FIFA 22 is now available on all versions of the game. The console and Stadia versions now get changes that were previously introduced in Update 6 for PC. According to the patch notes, players will not be able to perform stepovers and flicks for 500 milliseconds after initiating a Player Run. EA then lists other issues that will get fixed in this update, including the accuracy of a shot after a skill move and slide tackles being incorrectly called as fouls.

EA has also made improvements to Career Mode in FIFA 22 and added 2 new party games to Volta Arcade. The update comes with other general fixes, but it seems like Patch 6.1 does not address some major issues. In the replies to this Tweet, players are stating that the gameplay of FIFA 22 was fine for the first month or so, and it got ruined by subsequent updates. This seems to be a popular opinion as other fans are also wishing that EA never touched the game after its initial release.

Ultimate Team is by far FIFA 22’s most popular game mode and EA Sports is currently running a special promotion around silver cards. Some of the best players in the world are getting 74 rated silver cards with relatively juiced-up stats, and they are all easily obtainable via SBCs in FIFA 22. However, this seems to be a filler promo that aims to keep users engaged between larger and more content-heavy events. Some Ultimate Team players are also waiting for EA to add Prime Icon Moments to the game and for the next major promotion to start before engaging with the content.

The full notes for Patch 6.1 in FIFA 22 are as follows:

FIFA Ultimate Team

Addressed the following issues:

If a significantly large amount of Packs was present in the My Packs tab in the FUT Store, only a small amount of Packs would be displayed until the number was reduced. In some rare situations, the mouse cursor could not be moved in the menus.

Gameplay

Made the following changes:

Stepovers and flicks cannot be performed for 500 milliseconds after initiating a Player Run. This change is intended to prevent the aforementioned Skill Moves from clashing with the ability to choose a direction for the requested Player Run.

Following the activation of Player Lock with the input being performed at an angle, the first Player Switch would not occur and had to be performed again. In some rare situations when shooting after a Skill Move, the shot would not be as accurate as intended. If the Right Stick Switching option was set to Player Rotation, a right stick player switch could not be done after activating Player Lock. In some cases, sliding tackles could be incorrectly called as a foul depending on which area of the defender’s body made contact with the ball.

Career Mode

Addressed the following issues:

Manager interviews did not always impact Team Morale. The Asian International Cup did not feature the correctly placed team from the Indian Super League.

VOLTA FOOTBALL

Added 2 new Party Games to VOLTA ARCADE. These will only be available following a server update. The One Button control option is not usable in VOLTA ARCADE and will default players to the Classic option.

Pro Clubs

Addressed the following issue:

When selecting the Next Match option following the completion of a match, a pop up saying that the match search failed could appear.

General, Audio, and Visual

Made the following changes:

Updated some kits, boots, flags, banners, scarves, player portraits, commentary lines, corner flags, stadia, balls, and ad boards. Added and updated a total of 24 new star heads. These will only be available following a server update.

Addressed the following issues:

The Skill Games Take Me There UI Shortcut did not always function. Some EA Trax were not always enabled by default. Addressed a potential stability issue that could occur.
